About this deal

The 2005 animated film Chicken Little features a scene parodying King Kong, as Fish out of Water starts stacking magazines thrown in a pile, eventually becoming a model of the Empire State Building and some plane models, as he imitates King Kong in the iconic scene from the original film.

He also appeared in short promotional comic strips promoting the King Kong banana- and toffee-flavored ice pops manufactured by Wall's in England in 1977/78. The art was done by Dustin Weaver and Dan Parsons, with colors by Michael Attiyeh, letters by Michael David Thomas, and cover by Weta Digital. Cooper's King Kong • Kong: King of Skull Island • King Kong: The Island of the Skull • Kong Reborn • King Kong (2005) • Godzilla: The Official Movie Novelization • Kong: Skull Island - The Official Movie Novelization • GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse • GODZILLA: Project Mechagodzilla • GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters • GODZILLA: The Planet Eater • Godzilla: King of the Monsters - The Official Movie Novelization • Godzilla vs. King Kong has appeared in other comic publications as well, whether it be cameos or in mini-comic strips/adaptations (most of these are foreign publications). He's different in almost every shot; sometimes he's only 18 feet tall and sometimes 60 feet or larger. After climbing up the path to Skull Mountain, Jack finds himself in an open area below Kong's lair, where a sea serpent rose out of a spring to attack Kong. They also spy an enormous wall which reminds Englehorn of another mysterious wall he had seen in Angkor. When he was in the Belgian Congo a group of cannibals tried to board his boat but their vessel capsized and they were drowned. The controversial World War II Dutch resistance fighter Christiaan Lindemans—eventually arrested on suspicion of having betrayed secrets to the Nazis—was nicknamed "King Kong" due to his being exceptionally tall.

Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention recorded an instrumental about "King Kong" in 1967 and featured it on the album Uncle Meat. The narrative in the book's introductory chapter presents the book as the result of Project Legacy, a series of seven zoological expeditions led by Carl Denham (played by Jack Black in the film) to the island between 1935 (two years after the film takes place) and 1948, when the island sank into the sea due to volcanic and geological activity. On December 22, 1931, Cooper got the dimensions of a bull gorilla from the American Museum of Natural History telling O'Brien, "Now that's what I want!Cooper maintained that he had only licensed the character to RKO for the initial film and sequel, but had otherwise owned his own creation. This collection reprints both the Skull Island: The Birth of Kong trade along with the Godzilla: Aftershock trade from 2019.

Outside of these major comic book companies, King Kong was featured in various smaller publications as well. Comic book artist and King Kong fan Arthur Adams, lamented years later in an interview published in the book Comics Gone Ape by Michael Eury: "Well we talked about that.In this issue, published in 1967, Kong battles a living version of the Statue of Liberty brought about by Dr. King Kong project off the ground for Pioneer Pictures (where he had assumed management of the company). That version is very much a scaled-up silverback gorilla, and ours is something that is slightly more exaggerated.
