About this deal

An inspiring showcase of photography and battle scenes, featuring the armies fighting on the planet of Wyrmwood Speaking of enhancements, the standout is probably Alien Regality , which increases the range of your auras and Meticulous Planner abilities by 3”. It may not be flashy, but that extra range is very useful for getting your abilities around those pesky walls and corners. Then again, if you’re looking for flashy, look no further than Instinctive Counterstrike , which allows a unit within 9” of your Warlord to heroically intervene up to 6”. This is, unfortunately, very situational given that you have to be able to see your target unit to intervene on them, but could be very nasty when that situation shows up. Most of this is really cool, and we’re pretty enthusiastic to see what people do with it (especially the new ease of taking Lords of War). The only thing we don’t love are some of the “missing” soup options, and the Votann option feeling unlikely to have healthy impacts – because it comes at a price, you’re basically only going to do it if the raw maths on the Votann tools results in them being boring but effective killing machines. Otherwise, Wings is chomping at the bit to see what happens in Competitive Innovations when these new rules are unleashed, and in combination with the Balance Dataslate and point changes, there should be some huge shakeups.

When GW first announced Arks of Omen, it said that a key design goal was to prevent players from having to use more than one book – that means there will be no new Arks of Omen models. But each book will have a strong theme, and some new special characters are confirmed to be releasingalongside the books.Assuming you have the terrain set available, the game board consists of two game boards laid side by side to create a long battlefield area. The terrain is the same system as provided by Into the Dark , consisting of columns, walls, and hatchways. The system is intended to be flexible and you do not want to glue the pieces into subassemblies, as all of the missions specify the board layout down to the position of individual wall section. Setup is very explicit about using the provided game board, which features a template where columns and walls can be located in a grid-like pattern. Each square that is formed by this grid is referred to as a Zone. It’s important to note this isn’t just the Vashtorr show: everyone’s favorite chapter the Dark Angels [ Condit Note: Stop pandering to Greg already] are here, too. They’re portrayed about how you’d expect, including Big Azrael making the scene complete with new Primaris drip. The First Legion have their characteristic grim resolve and Never Give Up-ittude on full display as they muster to ward off the invasion of Vashtorr’s forces. Instead, Arks of Omen introduces an entirely new Warhammer 40k game mode, titled Boarding Actions. This mode sees players take smaller armies of 500 points into the Arks of Omen themselves, fighting room-by-room to achieve objectives, kill foes, and retrieve loot.

Each book in the series will introduce new developments for both the story and tabletop experience, adding new missions, expanded rules, and extra options for your Boarding Actions games. If you’re wondering how Boarding Actions will play out in practice, you’ll just have to stay tuned for more Warhammer Day reveals.Despite knowing they’re walking into a trap, the honor-bound knightly warriors of the Dark Angels deploy to the planet – lovingly named‘Wyrmwood’ by Vashtorr – and launch a vengeful war against the armies of Chaos Space Marinesand Chaos Daemons on the surface. Rules for playing Dark Depths games set in the unmapped underbelly of a space hulk, allowing you to mix-and-match eight board layouts

Rob: Yeah I can see this being used as a set of side missions in a Crusade campaign, and it’s a much better 500-point start to a campaign in terms of balance and play experience. It’s something we’re planning to use and work into our upcoming global crusade campaign. Boarding Action Missions Still, on average dice Big Azreal will canonically die but also weaken the hell out of Vashtorr, which is fine because he also costs like half the points and is not technically a God, so you have to grade him on a little bit of a curve. No more troop tax – if you don’t want to take any Troops, you don’t have to! This is great for factions where the Troop options are a bit mediocre, especially ones where the HQ or Elites slot was particularly valuable. Arks does create some other incentives to include Troops though, so you may still want to take some. Creations of Bile’s Fight on Death only triggers on a 4+, so playing against them with melee armies is a bit less of a total nightmare. This book contains expanded Boarding Action rules for the T’au Empire , every flavour of Aeldari ( smooth , spiky , sequined , and solemn ), and the Adepta Sororitas . You can also explore the twisted innards of void-craft in Dark Depths missions, where each player includes one of eight map arrangements in their list before placing them together to create new combinations. Freeblades on the march – with no CP cost for taking them, expect to see a lot of Hunters of Beasts Helverins alongside Custodes and Adepta Sororitas. Not to mention the modular additions to the Gallowdark terrain that’ll arrive in upcoming Kill Team sets . With the ruthless advance of Haarken Worldclaimer’s armada through the Nachmund Gauntlet – one of the very few safe passages through the Cicatrix Maledictum – the forces of Chaos are nearing their goal. Only a few faltering obstacles stand between Abaddon the Despoiler and supremacy over the entire Imperium Nihilus.
