With Us telling a dark and spooky story full of scares and violence, Peele has finally delivered his vision of sci-fi horror in such a way that pays homage to those Spielbergian moments that have been cemented in everyone's minds for decades but also furthers the paranoia and understanding of what it might be like to encounter other life on Earth. They will need all the help they can get to capture that perfect shot that is dubbed the impossible shot - even by a cinematographer's standards.

Peele wickedly shows how modern media (TV, online formats, theme parks) serves it up to us in all its tacky splendour, and highlights the draw of the big bucks that it can deliver. The reason why this film only gets a solid 4½ Stars, not 5, despite the quality of the story, is the dialogue. How appropriate: Peele is the effective host and narrator of the revived CBS anthology ‘The Twilight Zone’, which also hovers on the cusp of horror and Sci-Fi. Universal’s 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray of the film does it good justice with a terrific visual presentation that shifts to “IMAX ratios” in appropriate moments to honor his intention.

Jordan Peele has become synonymous with smart thriller films and his latest feature Nope proved able to live up the high bar set by his previous films. Orange sweatshirts and a warmer more vintage look inside the house make this modern film old-timey in certain moments. With Nope, Jordan Peele may not have topped his previous outings, but that’s more than fine as he still delivers a terrific experience at the multiplex. For the week that ended on October 29th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Nope topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut, knocking the previous week's champion, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Bullet Train down to second . Whilst I appreciate that Peele uses the film to highlight the way black contributions have been written out of history, the point might be more powerfully made using more mainstream dialogue.This is an amazing-looking image that outdoes the 1080p version and is the ultimate way to watch the film.
